Myths about homemade windmills

Are home windmills noisy?

No, a windmill makes approximately the same amount of noise as a washing machine.
This probably dates back to the old fashioned all metal windmills used on farms
and ranches. The old rusty windmills seen in old western movies are a far cry from
the windmills of today.

Are windmills complicated?

No. The most complex part of a windmill is a small electric motor. Windmills are far
simpler machines than a home generator.

Does a home windmill require frequent maintenance?

No. A well built generator will run for years with little maintenance. As in any
piece of equipment, a routine inspection schedule is recommended.

Are home windmills a danger to birds?

There is no evidence to the myth that birds are attracted to a windmill. As in
any piece of outdoor equipment, there is a chance that a bird could accidentally fly
into it, but a windmill is not especially dangerous to birds.

See which home windmill plans are far superior to the others!
